For the past three weeks, I've been spoiled. My consultant and registrar were both really chilled out and relaxed about patient treatment and there were discharges almost everyday. Seeing a patient was a 2 minute job. Patients were kicked out of hospital once they were even marginally stable before they could develop any complications. My new registrar, however, is very enthusiastic and knows all our patients in great detail. He's there at 5pm seeing our patients to check up on their progress for the day. He's making me call GPs to confirm patient's past medical history and why they are on certain medications. Worst of all? He does ward rounds in typical medical style; 30 minutes per patient where he explores all the patient's symptoms and updates all facets of their treatment.
*sigh* The remaining 7 weeks of this rotation is going to be long...
